May 13, 2008, Day 4

Seven bikes left for the HD shop.  The service manager told me how to reset the throttle so it would not have as much of a chance to ‘go wild’ on Joni.  Joni stayed in the room and Stuart rode her bike.

After the HD shop, the two of us rode to Steve Tyson’s house for a visit.  He is another friend from the high school days.  His wife, Orie, made us an omelet and potatoes for breakfast.

We rode back to the motel and hung around waiting for more people to show up.  Joni was nowhere to be found.  She had left with Buzz on his Honda and a few other people to go to Throttle Worx, an import bike shop.  She came back with a new helmet with a disappearing visor and a new jacket and pants.  We packed up her leather stuff and other non-essentials, and took them to the UPS store to send then back home.

The next day air parcel arrived for me here at the motel.  Ed from Sign Express, back home in Roseburg, did a very fast rush job for me for vinyl stickers for the two chase trailers.  National Veterans Awareness Ride, www.nvar.us, and Riding for those who can’t.  He made four sets of signs, 2 for each trailer.  Stuart and Tammy helped me put the stickers on.  Everyone thinks they look great.

My sister, Cynthia, and her husband Randy, arrived around 1:00, on a 2006 Harley Ultra Classic they just got about a month ago.  Quite a few other people showed up also.  Another high school riding friend, Drew Case and his older brother, Cliff showed up too.  We all spent a lot of time catching up on stuff.  Our cousin, Jim Crangle, stopped by to visit for a while too.  George and Bob from here in Sac spent a lot of time and energy on a great BBQ for us to feast on.  Steak sandwiches, beans and potato salad and plenty of pop.  We did introductions of the board of directors and the key people who all help the ride go smooth.  Lots of great camaraderie and good people are involved in making this another great ride.

8:30 pm and time to get organized for our first group ride in the AM.  Our departure time is Always 8:00 am.  7:30 for a riders meeting and kick stands up at 8:00.
